Assalamu-o-Alaikum,
Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Whoever travels a path in search of knowledge, Allah will make easy for him a path to Paradise.” Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 2699

Innovation is a primary source of competitive advantage for countries in essentially all environments, particularly industries. It is not only based on the societal needs but also for enhancing efficiency and productivity in industrial sectors. In this era of techno-economic progression, innovation takes driving force alongside knowledge, technology and entrepreneurship. National Idea Bank (NIB)

is one of the best initiatives taken by the Government of Pakistan to gather ideas for societal needs and ultimately devise solutions for techno-economic growth of the country. The competition is an opportunity for individuals as well as companies to showcase their technological, business and entrepreneurial skills for local issues currently faced by the country.

University of Engineering and Technology (UET), Lahore is one of the leading and the oldest institutions of Pakistan. At UET, we strive to play a leading role in teaching, research, innovation and commercialization that is internationally relevant and has a direct bearing on national industrial, technological and socio-economic development. The university has always supported initiatives like NIB and proudly partners with the Government to host the provincial competition. The competition also marks the centennial celebrations of the university and truly represents the role of UET for techno-economic growth in the country.

I take pride that UET students have submitted 30 ideas to NIB. I encourage more students and entrepreneurs to be part of the competition and let the world know that our nation has the ability and commitment to make a positive impact in the lives of fellow humans. I thank the NIB team for trusting the UET to hold this event of national importance.
